SUMMER DAY CAMP 2020
GOAL - Our goal is to provide children ages 4 - 13 with a healthy, active, happy summer with lots of entertaining activities and positive interaction with others. It is not a gymnastics class, but it does introduce gymnastics in fun-filled activities.
Dates: Monday, June 1 - Friday, July 31
Time: Monday – Friday, 7:30 AM – 5:30 PM
Gym Address: 1204 Import Drive, New Iberia 70560
* Camp activities start at 8:00 AM and end at 4:00 PM. The earliest campers can be dropped off is 7:30 AM, and must be picked up at the latest by 5:30 PM. $5 per 10 minutes after 5:30 to be paid at the time of pick-up.
You can pay by the day, or by a few days, or by the week, or by the month, or even by the whole summer camp. All multi-day and weekly fees are due at drop-off on the first day of attendance for that week. If paying for multi days in a week, the days attended can be any days in that week, they don’t have to be consecutive. There are no Roll-Overs, so if you don’t use your days you lose them. If not sure how many days are needed, then it’s better to pay for the minimum and add more days. The same applies for multi weeks. The weeks attended can be any weeks out of the summer camp, they don’t have to be consecutive. All fees are payable at drop-off by first day of attendance, no exceptions. There will be NO refunds, NO credit for days missed, and NO transfer/roll -over of days to other weeks.

Campers can either bring their own lunch or they may purchase lunch from the gym through a “snack account”. A “snack account” can be set up for your child to purchase snacks or lunch each day. The snack account helps monitor how much your child spends and/or eats and allows a parent to set a daily limit on how much your child is allowed to spend. A list of snacks, lunches, drinks, and prices are attached for your review. If you send money with your child for snacks instead of setting up a “snack account”, we will not be responsible for lost or spent money. We do have microwaves to heat food, so they don’t have to just eat sandwiches. If they bring their own meals, they must supply their own utensils and plate/bowl. Please put child’s name on lunch bags, utensils, and bowls/plates. There is a coke machine in the lobby. We do not provide change or money for the coke machine. If parents allow their child to purchase drinks from the coke machine then send them with accurate amount.
Valuable items should not be brought to camp. New Heights Gym WILL NOT be responsible for lost or stolen items. Items found will be placed in the “Lost and Found Box” located in the gym. Be sure to label all items. Campers can bring their “toys” to play with during free time, but New Heights Gym will not be responsible for them if they are lost or broken. Toys are not allowed to be played with during the scheduled activity time…only during free time!! The WIFI code will not be given out to campers, so warn them if they plan on using electronics that need WIFI.
We strive to make our Summer Camp a fun and safe environment for every child to enjoy. Discipline problems, fighting, foul language, name-calling, and bullying will not be tolerated. Our counselors are instructed to correct the misbehaving camper with a warning for the first offense and time-out or removal of privileges for second offense. Many times we deny “Free Pit” for misbehaving campers. If the behavior problem continues, the Camp Supervisor will notify the parents and will ask to have the student picked up from camp. The camper may return to camp the next day, but if problem persists, he/she will not be allowed to continue attending camp. If the camper is sent home or not allowed to return to camp because of disciplinary problems, there will be no refund of any fees paid.
CHECK-IN / CHECK-OUT PROCEDURES
In order to keep track of each camper, it is very important that the parent or guardian signs the camper in and pays the dues when they arrive and sign them out when they leave. We must be notified of who is expected to pick up the camper for each day. Have the person checking-out the camper be prepared to present a photo ID for verification purposes.
For most of the days, the campers are encouraged to wear comfortable clothes like shorts and shirt. Flip flops are the preferred shoe type because all inside activities are barefoot. Some special activities may be outside, so then tennis shoes may be needed for those days. Of course on special “dress” days they can wear costumes. Refer to weekly activity schedule for recommended dress codes. Please remember to label all items and clothing.
We have an open door policy when it comes to communications. We encourage parents to ask questions, talk to us, and give us feedback so that we can improve. Anytime you need to talk to us, you may call Bridget LeLeux at 337-365-3806. We look forward to meeting you this summer.
SPECIAL THEME ACTIVITIES
Our theme this year is “Celebrations Around the World” in honor of celebrating this year’s Summer Olympics 2020. Each week will be based on each country from the Olympics and their celebrations / festivals. A couple of the activities may have an extra activity fee associated with it. A more detailed scheduled of dress-up days, events, and cost of activities will be provided at a later date.
We do offer swimming lessons through the camp. Sessions consist of 8 hours in a 2-week period. A maximum of 6 students per session will be allowed. It will be on a first come, first serve basis. The cost for swimming lessons is $90 per child. For an extra fee, we may provide transportation for students that attend camp to and from swimming lessons in a private vehicle. Students must provide own bag, towel, swim suit, sunscreen, and eye goggles. Attached is the registration form and waiver for swimming lessons.
